Artificial Intelligence and its Major Ramifications

The rise of Artificial Intelligence has led to many exciting and interesting new creations possible in our world. From providing support in manufacturing facilities to increasing productivity in a person’s personal life, they can provide a great amount of ease into our world. But some things should remain available only to actual people, like driving on our public roads. Many autonomous vehicles are already on the roads today, but they are required at this point to have a human driver.

Many reasons can be stated to reinforce the idea that these autonomous vehicles should be permitted to drive without a person behind the wheel. The technology for these types of cars are already here and the technology is only improving as time goes on. As of right now, many computer science researchers are expectant of the AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) to arrive within decades (Tegmark, 2018.) This milestone in computer science could evolve many of the things that we do today and have them handled by machines.

This technology can be a great deal like our own information gathering system, also known as our brain. We can process the information that we receive from our senses, and the same can be said for many of the machines that we already deal with in our everyday life. This is all that intelligence is in a sense. Many machines can actually operate at superhuman processing speeds (Harris, 2016.) The reality of the situation is that artificial intelligence is already in the present and we are already dealing with some of the ramifications as it is. The inclusion of these autonomous vehicles is only another milestone in computer science and its ability to influence the world around us.
